Energizer E2 Lithium AA and AAA Batteries Review
May 07, 2008 by Zachary Fruhling With the advent of high-current portable electronic devices such as digital cameras, the demand for quality batteries has soared in the past several years. Many consumers are not aware that there are different types of batteries available to meet their power needs. While most people are familiar with traditional alkaline batteries, fewer people are aware that there is another battery formulation, lithium batteries, that are ever more powerful and more cost-effective than traditional alkaline batteries. Energizer is perhaps the best known manufacturer of lithium batteries with its "e2" brand of lithium AA and AAA batteries. Energizer AA or AAA batteries are documented to last sever times longer than their alkaline counterparts, which is an important factor when choosing batteries for high-current-demand devices such as digital cameras or camcorders. Owners of digital cameras who have tried to power their devices with alkaline batteries are often disappointed in the length of time that alkaline batteries will continue powering their devices. And since it is often inconvenient to carry around a case or package full of extra batteries, Energizer e2 lithium AA or AAA batteries are the perfect solution for lasting power and portability. Another benefit to Energizer e2 lithium AA and AAA batteries is their relatively low long-term cost compared to alkaline batteries. Energizer e2 lithium batteries cost approximately three times more than a same-quantity pack of Energizer alkaline batteries, but the Energizer e2 lithium batteries will last seven times longer than traditional alkaline batteries in most applications. This means that one will save quite a bit of money in the long-run buy investing in higher quality Energizer e2 lithium batteries than by purchasing alkaline batteries more frequently. The disadvantage is a relatively high up-front price point for the Energizer e2 lithium AA and AAA batteries, but the Energizer e2 batteries are unquestionably a better investment in the long-run than traditional alkaline batteries. Energizer e2 lithium AA and AAA batteries are by no means restricted to use in digital cameras. Energizer e2 lithium batteries may be used as replacements for alkaline batteries in nearly any application requiring AA or AAA batteries including recorders, microphones, remote controls, computer mice, game controllers, etc. Since Energizer e2 lithium AA and AAA batteries possess the same voltage as alkaline batteries, 1.5 Volts, there is no practical consequence to using lithium batteries over alkaline batteries except for a significantly longer useful life than that of alkaline batteries. In conclusion, if you have not already made the transition from using traditional alkaline AA and AAA batteries for your electronic power needs, do yourself and your pocketbook a favor by purchasing Energizer e2 lithium AA or AAA batteries instead of traditional alkaline batteries. They last longer, and they are cheaper in the long run than their alkaline counterparts. Bron: Associated Content - Technology |
Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt Batteries Versus Alkaline 9-Volt Batteries October 21, 2008 by Zachary Fruhling Many people are familiar with traditional alkaline 9-Volt batteries. But few are aware that there is another type of 9-Volt battery that is available also: Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries. Lithium batteries are well-known for their ability to last many times longer than traditional alkaline batteries in most applications. Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries last an average of five times longer than alkaline 9-Volt batteries, but they only cost about three times as much. This means that you will save money in the long run by switching from alkaline 9-Volt batteries to Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries. Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries may be used in any application calling for an alkaline 9-Volt battery. A common use for Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries is in smoke detectors and fire alarms, which often call for a 9-Volt battery. Since nothing is more annoying (and dangerous) than a low battery in a smoke detector in the middle of the night, using Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries in your smoke detectors will mean that you will have to change your smoke detectors' batteries much, much less frequently than with alkaline 9-Volt batteries. Another common use for Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries is in remote controls. Many television remote controls and universal remotes call for 9-Volt batteries. Here it is the same situation: Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries will last significantly longer than alkaline batteries, and you will not have to worry about having to reprogram your universal remotes nearly as often. Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries may be used in any number of backup battery applications for telephones and alarm systems as well. Personally use Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries with my ham radio equipment that calls for 9-Volt batteries; especially for my portable equipment that benefits from extremely long battery life. There is a definite advantage I have noticed with the Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries compared to when I am forced to use alkaline 9-Volt batteries. The manufacturer's claim of lasting five times longer than alkaline 9-Volt batteries is not an exaggeration but a fact. In conclusion, if you have not yet tried Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries, then do yourself and your wallet a favor by buying the Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries the next time you need to stock up on 9-Volts. It will cost a little more money up front, but the money you will save in the long run is well worth the up-front cost of buying the Ultralife Lithium 9-Volt batteries instead.
